Hobie Outback Review
I purchased a Hobie Outback after my first two fishing kayak purchases were budget kayaks. The first was a paddle kayak and it didn’t take long to know I wanted to get a pedal drive. I found a cheap one and got what I paid for. It did the job but didn’t have the features of some of the higher end kayaks. After watching lots of videos and seeing the Hobie Outback up close, I knew that would be my next kayak. I ended up ordering in December and picked up the kayak in the spring. This thing is the ultimate, versatile fishing kayak, and I couldn’t be happier. Its fast, light, extremely stable, and maneuvers fantastically. One of my favorite features is the through-hull wire system with the retractable transducer. Hi Tempo Fishing Kayaks had great customer service through the whole process. Thank you everyone at Hi Tempo!

How are you going to transport your Hobie Outback?
One of the attractions of the Hobie Outback is that it’s light enough to load and transport on a car top. The hull weight is 85 pounds, it’s manageable to get on a car top. Other options are using a trailer or hauling in the bed of a pickup truck.
Test drive a Hobie Outback on the water!
Watch videos, read articles, ask questions on social media and visit a Hobie dealer to research if the Hobie Outback is right for you. But my bottom line recommendation is to try one on the water. Get your butt in the boat, feel how stable and comfortable it is. Bring a rod and reel and make some casts. All fishing kayaks are NOT the same. Experience what makes the Hobie Outback unique and why it’s one of the most popular fishing kayaks on the market today.
